About the role
The Caretaker Apprentice plays an important supporting role in keeping the school site safe, clean, and well-maintained for pupils, staff, and visitors.
Under the guidance of the current Caretaker, the apprentice will develop practical skills and knowledge in site maintenance, health and safety, and facilities management, contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the school.
This role sits within the Site and Facilities Team, which is responsible for the upkeep, security and operational functionality of the school premises and grounds.
The Caretaker Apprentice will support a range of duties, including:
The Caretaker Apprentice will report directly to the Headteacher for day-to-day management and to Senior Finance Officer. The apprentice will have regular contact with teaching staff, administrative staff, all contractors and external visitors as part of their daily duties. We are looking for someone with some experience in a manual job or a role involving manual handling, and who lives within a reasonable distance of the school.

This role offers a strong starting point to gain practical experience and build key skills. While the starting salary may be modest, there is potential to move into more senior roles, take on greater responsibility, and access additional training for those who perform well and show commitment.

Monday- Friday

Duration: 1 Year 1 Month

Things to consider
This role is hands-on and requires significant physical activity, often outdoors in all weather conditions. It may require early starts, lifting and carrying equipment, and responding to occasional urgent maintenance issues- candidates 18+ to be considered.
