Legal
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the website ukjunction.com and the services provided through it (the "Platform").
UK Junction Trading Ltd ("UK Junction", "we", "us", "our") operates the UK Junction website and app, providing an online marketplace platform based in the United Kingdom. We are a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16937235, with our registered office at 71a Rowsley Street, Leicester, LE5 5JP.
By creating an account, browsing listings, or otherwise using UK Junction, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions, our Privacy Policy, and our Trust & Safety Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use UK Junction. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or enter into a transaction on UK Junction.
You must provide accurate, current information when registering and keep your login details confidential. You're responsible for all activity under your account. Tell us immediately at help@ukjunction.com if you suspect unauthorised access.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, provides false information, or is used fraudulently, following the process set out in Section 13 below.
UK Junction provides the technology that lets buyers and sellers find each other, communicate, and arrange transactions. Except where we explicitly sell you a UK Junction subscription plan or paid feature, UK Junction is not the seller, buyer, or a party to any transaction between users, is not a broker, agent, or auctioneer, and does not take title to any goods listed. We do not take any commission or fee on transactions between users.
This distinction matters for your legal rights, see Section 7 below.
Any contract formed for the sale of an item or service is directly between the buyer and the seller, not with UK Junction. You are responsible for agreeing your own terms (price, delivery/collection, condition) with the other party, and for complying with any laws that apply to your transaction.
We strongly recommend using UK Junction's in-app messaging to keep a record of your conversation, and following the safety guidance in our Trust & Safety Policy.
UK Junction is a platform that helps buyers and sellers find each other. We are not a party to any sale between users, we do not own, inspect, or take title to items listed on the Platform, and we do not charge any commission or fee on transactions between users. Because of this, your legal rights if something goes wrong with a purchase depend on who you bought from, not on UK Junction.
Buying from a business seller
If you buy from a seller acting in the course of a business or trade (for example, a shop, trader, or someone regularly selling professionally rather than as a private individual), your purchase is protected by the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Under this Act, goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality, and fit for purpose, including any particular purpose you told the seller about before buying. If goods don't meet these standards, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, price reduction, or refund, depending on how long you've had the item and whether you've already accepted it. If you bought from a business seller entirely online without meeting them first, you may also have a 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, subject to the exceptions in those regulations (for example, made-to-order or perishable goods).
Buying from a private individual
Most sales on UK Junction are between private individuals, not businesses. Private sales are not covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015 in the same way, a private seller's legal obligation is narrower: the item must match its description and the seller must have the legal right to sell it. A private seller is not required to guarantee the item's quality or fitness for purpose in the way a business must, and the 14-day cancellation right does not apply to private sales. This is standard across all UK classifieds and marketplace platforms, not something specific to UK Junction, it reflects the difference in law between consumer contracts and private sales.
Nothing in these terms limits any statutory right you have that cannot lawfully be excluded.
UK Junction offers two kinds of paid features:
Current plans, boosts, and pricing are shown on our Premium Plans page and may be updated from time to time; changes will not affect a payment you have already made. Subscription plans are billed on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, as selected) until cancelled. You may cancel at any time from your account dashboard, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you will retain access until then. Listing boosts are a single payment for a fixed 7-day period and do not renew automatically. Payments are processed securely by our third-party payment provider, Stripe. We do not store your full card details. See our Refund Policy for cancellation and refund terms, including your rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
You agree not to:
The Platform, its design, branding, and underlying software are owned by UK Junction Trading Ltd or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or create derivative works from UK Junction's branding or platform without our written consent. You retain ownership of the content you post, subject to the licence granted in Section 5.
Users can report listings, messages, or accounts that they believe breach these Terms or the law. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team. Where a report is upheld, we may remove the content and/or take action against the account responsible. Where a user disagrees with a moderation decision, they may submit an appeal via the process provided in their account dashboard.
We may remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts that breach these terms, at our reasonable discretion and proportionate to the breach. Where practical, we'll explain the reason and give you an opportunity to respond, except where immediate action is needed to prevent harm, fraud, or illegal activity. As a platform hosting user-generated content, UK Junction has systems in place, in line with the Online Safety Act 2023, to allow users to report illegal content and to act on such reports.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
Subject to the above, to the fullest extent permitted by law:
You may close your account at any time from Account Settings. We may suspend or close your account for breach of these terms, with notice where reasonably possible, or immediately where necessary to prevent harm, fraud, or to comply with the law. Closing your account does not affect any transaction already agreed with another user, nor any fees already properly charged.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, save that if you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, mandatory local consumer protections in your place of residence may also apply, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in our service or the law. We'll give reasonable notice of material changes, for example, by email or an in-app notice, before they take effect. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
